The phrase ‘it’s raining cats and dogs’, comes from years ago back in the 1700’s or 1800’s, when people lived in thatched huts and homes. Their house pets, (i.e. cats, dogs, bunnies…) would be placed on the roof to sleep, where it was warm and comfy. When there would be inclement weather, the dogs and cats would slip and slide off the roof, which is where the saying , “it’s raining cats and dogs” comes from!
